Frozen Chipotle in Adobo

(Stupid) Pinterest has my brain on overdrive.  This is something I thought of the other night.  Whenever I open a can of chipotle in adobo, I end up throwing away 3/4 of it.  Rather than freezing the whole thing, I decided to freeze the leftovers into cubes.  That way I could defrost a few at a time, therefore wasting less.

First, I put the chipotle in adobo in my mini food processor, ground it up, and put it into an ice tray I sprayed with Pam.

Once they were frozen, I was able to easily pop them out.

I then threw them into a freezer bag, dated it, and put them back in the freezer.

Now, instead of buying a whole can every time I want chipotles, I can stretch a whole can for many, many dishes.

*UPDATE*  I just finished using my first batch, and must say, it worked quite well.  I will definitely do this from now on.  It was so convenient to be able to just grab a couple and throw it into a dish.

  1. That's a great idea! I do that in muffin tins with leftover chicken broth - just pop one out when you need it, rather than going through the fridge looking for a half full carton :)

  2. That's a really great idea! I have vegetable stock in the fridge right now. I'll give it a shot.
